The COVID-19 pandemic in Ireland has encouraged a dramatic and unprecedented transformation in how public organisations and privately-owned businesses conduct their day to day operations – our thoughts are with all those affected by COVID-19 as well as the frontline workers and medical professionals who work tirelessly to keep those in need safe.
We have seen first-hand how companies across Ireland and the UK such as Sysco Software client, Armstrong Medical have pooled and ramped up resources to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus within affected communities by providing PPE and ventilation equipment, through to implementing new technologies such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Teams to help key organisations and businesses stay connected, productive and informed.
Healthcare systems the world over have, by necessity, required changes, investment and upheaval to dated paper based systems to provide instantaneous, secure access to numerous information sources to control and monitor the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic – both domestically and globally.
Sysco Software Solution’s Healthcare Division ( https://healthcare.sysco-software.com/ ) have been at the heart of the Irish Health Service Executive’s hospitals and business divisions COVID-19 response. Our Business and Clinical Healthcare Management tools, built upon the Microsoft Dynamics 365 technology stack have created the foundation of the COVIDCare Tracker project.
What is the COVIDCare Tracker?
The aim of the COVIDCare Tracker is to streamline the sub-optimal and paper-based system for the management of large numbers of symptomatic patients with potential COVID-19. The COVIDCare Tracker then notifies the results to people tested and helps to identify and manage contacts of known COVID-19 positive patients.
Available to colleagues in General Practice, this will enable them to assist the population approach for rapid identification of cases with a view to slowing down transmission of COVID-19; in order to delay and lessen the impact on the capacity of the health service.

Sysco Healthcare, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft PowerApps
At the heart of the COVIDCare Tracker is Sysco Software’s Healthcare software built upon the security and extensibility of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Microsoft PowerApps platform. The application also engages with various third-party applications to enable omni-channel communications, SMS delivery, medical diagnostics and testing, worldwide tracking of COVID-19 cases and appointments management. The COVIDCare Tracker is also securely connected to the National HealthLink service which allows for the transmission of patient information between Hospitals and Medical Practitioners on the frontlines.

The COVIDCare Tracker platform will be improved and built upon in the coming months with one such integration being with the Microsoft Teams application providing a Call Centre environment. There will be a direct link between Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement allowing the end user a 360 degree view of calls and case management activity.

For Business and Clinical Use
Beyond the Clinical applications within the HSE specific to fighting the operational burdens that COVID-19 has created, Sysco Software Solutions also work within the Health Business Services division of the HSE. Health Business Services (HBS) is the shared services business division of the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE). HBS incorporates five business divisions including Procurement, Operation Finance and Human Resource, Estates and SAP COE and with its 1700 staff provides a global business service across the Health System.

As well as Payroll, Procurement, HR, Payroll Systems & Analytics (HPSA), Sysco have recently delivered Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement to another HBS business unit, IFMS. IFMS is a Single National Integrated Financial Management and Procurement System for the Irish Health Service. It will replace over 200 legacy financial systems which currently operate independently of each other across the Health Service.
